Ahmed Joseph ahmedjo — I thought the book was very well written and I enjoyed reading it, but I thought the stories were very depressing. I didn't relate to the characters or the marriages described. And I felt that Mengestu was trying to use the book as a comment on fiction, but I didn't appreciate it. Instead I felt manipulated by it and mistrustful of the story itself.
