Ateeq Ahmed ateeqahmed — I loved the character & story line of this book, but it has a crass sexual part - not long or detailed, but sprinkled here & there just enough to make it hard to skip them & not part of the story. Am also not thrilled about the occasionally use of profanity, including the "f" bomb. I almost chose it for our book group, until I quickly reviewed it (because I had read it a couple years ago - remembered really liking the story but not liking something about the book)and remembered what it was that kept me from rating it a 4 or 5.

Ricardo Bogéa _icardo_ogea — Definitely a well written and epic story, slow to start because of course he is creating an entire world for you and he has so many different characters and nations even to build up before he can bring them crashing down. The end is thrilling and definitely pays out, but ended so abruptly I was left thinking, "what, no cuddle after?" Definitely a good book if you go in for this genre and I would recommend the audio version as the narrator is fabulous.

Zorik Istomin zorikistomin — Four stars for this kind of book. What kind of book? It's about a half-woman, half-bird performer named Fevvers in fin de siecle London with a cockney accent, in love, in prison, insane postmodern feminist fantasy. Not for the faint-hearated. Had to put that one out there.
