Cristian Delacruz delacruzzz — A nice companion to Hamlet-- allowing the reader to discover the death of King Hamlet which Shakespeare never exposes in his play. Gertrude's perspective is explored, shedding light on her son's peculiarities. I read it alongside the play and enjoyed the in-jokes that came up comparing the two so directly. Other than that, I was disapointed with the way Updike forced his usual themes of domestic issues and adultary into a standard classic. I like it better when he creates his own characters and puts them in a time period he can see and comment on more realistically.

Pedro Mattiazzo pedromat — How have I not read this book yet? So fantastic! I loved Holling's voice, and the Shakespeare was really fun. I don't know how well received it would be by most middle schoolers, but it was a home run for me.

Hitesh Raghav raghavhitea082 — The timeframe of when Elphie and Galinda are rooming together is my favorite. It gets weird in certain points (like with beastiality), and Macguire tries to put so much into it- such as political and religious commentary- that it gets overwhelming. but I love the concept.
