Guilherme Vieira neverendingfun — Well it was slightly better than I was fearing, mostly because I've got a soft spot for geeks in love but it was still painful to have all the repetitive passages about his loneliness. I do like that the author dealt with the issues of race and mixed race marriage, that was very nice and buoyed up the last section of the book with some sincere thoughtfulness. Glad I finished the series and the idea is still interesting, I just wish that there had been as much character development as there was in the second book. That's still the best one in the series.

Seah Jun _ — This book was an amazing and tragic look into the meat packing industry in the early 20th century. I found it informative, revealing, and shocking. I can see why it caused quite a stir and why it provoked the changes it did. The biggest disappointment was the ending. The story was so heartbreaking, and all the ending offered was 20 pages or so of socialist propaganda, basically leaving the characters behind and making me feel like the whole story was just a front for this author's desire to convert the world to socialism. The book and the ending seemed to be two different works. The writing changed from subtle tellings of shocking to truth to outlandish claims by obviously obsessed people who randomly came into the main character's life. If it weren't for the lame ending, I would have given it five stars.
