The human (Aden) is actually the son of the Vampire Creator and Victor is his secret protector. Aden only finds this out after his boyfriend Josh beats him, afterwards Victor steals Aden away and tells him the truth about his heritage and the two men fall in love. I love the vampire genre and cut my teeth as a kid on Bram Stoker’s Dracula, but I have to admit I am a romantic when it comes to m/m romances. I just want a story that focuses on the main characters and their love story and unfortunately with Stolen Memories we have a lot of other secondary characters that take up a good portion of the short novella. So for me the plot was too cluttered with extraneous stuff for me to really enjoy it. Plus, Ms. Lynne did not fully explain Aden and Victor’s relationship over the years that Aden was alone. There was a hint that Victor came and “visited” Aden in his dreams, but no follow-up. I would have enjoyed more of an explanation of this aspect of their special connection. Also for those who have squicks, there is a hint of an incestuous relationship between Aden and his father, so this could be an issue for some readers. Overall, if you love the genre and the author, I’d buy Stolen Memories. But if like me you only want the main characters involved with each other, then pass. Rated 3 Delightful Divas by Lasha!
