Elena Grandal elenagrandal — Utterly fascinating. You wouldn't think a story that's mostly about turn-of-the-century engineers would be an exciting page-turner, but it is. Reading about those engineers overcoming a ridiculous number of obstacles to stage a World's Fair is totally engrossing. The parallel story about the serial killer living nearby is also quite interesting, but it's hamstringed a bit by Larsen's habit of trying to make it more interesting by making it more melodramatic. Still, a very good read.

Manel Benlloch 3ddesignandrendering — A heartbreaking story about a woman who searches for answers after her husbands death. I was intrigued by both the book and the movie.

Allison Cho chogumjica57 — Well written but I think I was expecting more experiences from the war horrors instead of struggles as an adult. Would recommend this to all though.

Rimantas Pocius _imantas — Although I'm not much of thriller fan, I really like Daniel Silva's kind, guilty-conscienced Israeli assassin. I read one of the recent books first and now I'm going back and reading the first books in this series. I've enjoyed them all so far and learned a bit of art history as well.

Agah Keskin agahkeskinb0c1 — Make sure to read about the 14th c. Persian epic poem by Firdausi "Sohrab and Rostam". It is about the battle between a father and son, an important theme in this novel. This is my favorite book... and I cried so much! It is everything that should be said but never was in Afghan society. Although controversial in some circles, it is really a fabulous storytelling accomplishment.

Shawal Pilati highspeedcat — The motivations for this character's eventual transformation from work-a-day reference librarian to new witch are shallow and murky at best. Also, she is titling the sequel "Sorcery and the Single Girl" when "Hex and the Single Girl" is much, much funnier. Sigh.
