Teresa M carbonigraphics — I remember this being one of my favorite novels of the Victorian Era--until I read Jane Eyre...but that was all in HS. I still think P&P is irreplaceable, but I don't really enjoy reading it (as much as others) for some reason. Though Austen's very hand grabs me into her world, I tend to get irritated with the characterization of her heroines--which are a tad cartoonish. That being said, I love-truly love and am moved deeply by Elizabeth and Darcy's relationships. Definitely read this.

Helena Maksimovich alenamaxim5663 — As a whole, this book is fantastic ♥ In parts, I guess I'd say that it's 95% great, which is something most people would find spectacular. And that's why I'm recommending it to anyone who likes action/adventure and fantasy with that alternate world edge. First of all, I was hesitant to read the rest of this book after the initial chapter because of obvious stuff: the Shadow World xD For a moment I was, like, "Oh, no." This was mainly due to the whole aspect of... well, supernatural stuff... apart from other people who have taken different takes on all of the fictional mythical aspect of things. However, I would love to know more about the Angel Raziel. Regardless of that, the explanations were plausible. Not counting the very random info dumps, I LOVED the little flashbacks. The book itself ranged from a very slow beginning to a lovely ending (it could've ended on a different note, I guess... but look how thick the book is!). Which brings me to my greatest concern, or rather the missing 5%: the way the characters interacted when there were issues. The characters themselves are pretty fleshy and realistic. The main character is also called out on her stupidity, which kinda makes sense for the other characters, too... because people are naturally stupid. No, don't think badly of this. We're all smart, but in different ways. Yet, I expected more interaction from the characters than their interaction with... well, things that didn't matter during the rising conflict. It was annoying and distracting, but I'm glad it ended in the third part. This was pretty much the end, you get me? However, the description is gorgeous ♥ There are many similes and metaphors throughout the book. The writer knows where she's writing about, because there are many terms about buildings and places that she uses. The action is swift with verbs in complex sentences. The characters themselves are vibrant, and, regardless of what I said earlier... I loved a few moments of the character interaction where their relationships proved to be heavier than Clary's shortsighted following. Yes, the book is told in third person, but it only follows her... Which confused me when it suddenly shifted to third person omniscient just around the second part, I think. How? We got to see Jace's side of things for a moment before Clary came in again. Anyway, taking the story in parts, it can be said that Clary might not have been the best choice to use as the main character, but I loved the storytelling anyway. She opens up the plot for the people who don't know about the Shadow World (basically the unseen world, hah xD so much like the unseen world in Alif the Unseen but without the mention of vampires, werewolves, and faeries), and that's alright. It would have been similar through the eyes of any of the other teenagers... because they're all acting their age! Huzzah! (So I guess the 5% could have been this. This is YA, so why bother?) Although, there could have been less situations in the rising action. After the second one, it became prettttttyyyy repetitive. That is, until the middle or almost toward the end of the second part. Again, that was basically the end. As a whole, well, yeah, it's alright; in fact, I liked it. I'm going to go and read the next one: City of Ashes The Mortal Instruments 2.
