Michael Berninger michaelberninger — Great read for any fan of the Alice in Wonderland series, even if you're a little hesitent to read it. I was, but got over myself enough to finish the book in only two days. Fast paced and interesting, it's a great read for anyone, but it helps if you've read the original books and can catch all of the references. The book follows Alyss, the princess and heir to Wonderland, but her evil Aunt Redd comes to take the place herself. Alyss and her guardian, the infamous Hatter, run away to the world that we as humans live in and become seperated. The rest I'll leave for you to read, but this book deffinitly carries my seal of approval. I met the author a year ago at a comic book convention ((Yes, I know, I'm a geek))and you could tell he's done his research. Enjoy!

Radius Creative radiuscreative — Kathryn loaned me this book and said, "Everyone I suggest this book to says no thanks but end up loving it." So I took it on vacation and put it off as my second book. Once I got into it (about 10 pages), it was really, really good. I can't say it was hard to put down as I was seriously jet-lagged and sick on my trip, but I was always anxious to get back to it. I finished it somewhere over the Atlantic coming home. Lots of action, and the characters were not predictable. I'm probably heading to BnN to get the sequel today, although I know Kathryn has it to lend. I also doubted its Young Adult categorization, as the language was more advanced than I expected. But I was sick afterall. Very good read, and excellent for vacation. I think Vacation-Ready is a category we should load very carefully. Its important.

Isabella Winter treviojasvc6d1 — I've learned that novels in prose are "outsider" books. The poets don't acknowledge them as true poetry and novelists don't accept the shortcuts of the form. But ... sometimes I'm really in the mood for just an essence of a thing. Ludie was from a small southern town, married too young, and had too many children. Through Rylant I really saw how she viewed the world. Some of the lines were beautiful: "Ludie ... knew the pain of being more than the world would ever see ..." There is an ache to this story that pulled me in. As an adult, it resonated with me. As a children's book, I'm not sure.

Luis Bonilla creativite — Probably worth a "4.5" just on the originality of a couple of the included stories. I read this a while back, so details of dates. etc. are less than perfect. I may have had a difficult moment or two in one or another of Gibson's novels, but by and large he is a spectacular writer, a newer, "New Wave" SF author who has succeeded in extending and redefining the genre. If you have little taste for novels, this short story collection is excellent and I heartily recommend it. You can read all the spoilers and literary deconstruction elsewhere, just read the book first.
