Buntone Buntone bezerojeden — I somehow enjoy when women in books have men's nicknames.

Mifraz Mohamed mifrazrauff — I had the choice of reading this book or Pride and Prejudice in 8th grade and of course i chose this and i loved it. The fact that it was in the POV of a teenager and such was easily relate able and it was an interesting story of an angry kid who is going to die of a brain tumor and if i remember correctly he goes to camp with other teens that are going to die i don't remember much else about it but enjoying reading the book

Paola Jacanamejoy paolajacanamejoy — The first 800 pages were fantastically engaging and I plowed through them in less time than it normally takes me to read several books. Caesar's assination, as described, was quite underwhelming, but Cleopatra's agony at Antony's death more than makes up for it. The last 160 were quite a slog, and the descriptions of Antony's doldrums following the seige of Actium, especially when read in the heat of summer, were truly grueling. I learned that stealing from my mom is a good thing, else I never would have come by this on-the-whole-delightful brick.

_rin_onilla
Erin Bonilla _rin_onilla — I had a very hard time starting this book, which I think I got by searching for highly rated books on amazon.com. Let me sum up the beginning, where the married Patrick meets his dead best friend's fiancee for the first time; Julia smiled; I wanted her. Julia walked; I wanted her. Julia picked her nose; I loved her completely and totally. The Julia part of this book is total drivel, like a Harlequin romance written from a guy's point of view. Zero stars for the Julia part. So, I picked this book up and put it down at least a dozen times over 2 years. I finally decided I had to read it or donate it just to get it off my nightstand. I slogged through. Fortunately, the Great War sections made it somewhat worth it, although the plot is very thin here. As a culture, we focus so much on WWII that WWI gets pretty lost. The horrors and uselessness are well depicted, as well as the unreality of people dining in beautiful, civilized Paris in earshot of the guns at the Western Front, where thousands of soldiers were mowed down a day. There is some very eloquent language here. I'd give this part 4 stars; but the zeroes for the other 2 parts drag that down to 2 stars. The retirement home scenes also have a uniqueness to them. They are interesting in describing a young spirit trapped in a body which is falling apart, but they are tarnished by excessive descriptions of Patrick lusting after the young nurses. He is also pretty nasty in his opinions of the decrepit old women around him; to him, they are 100% pathetic, mostly due to their showing interest in the men and smeared lipstick on their teeth (this must be Hull's pet peeve). Aren't they young souls in old bodies like he is? Unfortunately, you can't read the WWI sections by themselves; everything is too integrated. I'd skip it.

Rebeca Oh rebeca2127c14 — I would never have picked out this book on my own. A friend gave me her copy and told me I had to read it. I couldn't put it down. I want to give this book to all my friends, especially the pet lovers. Reading this book has made me really think about what goes on in the mind of man's best friend.

vervex
Tina Mailhot-roberge vervex — This is a great collection of about 200 some odd stories writen throughout his career. In the begining, he had a goal of writing one story a week, starting on Monday with the first draft and revising is once a day until Friday it had to be ready for submission. That process led to many interesting stories and, as you can see in the collection, a great growth as a story teller. You can see how has he grew as a writer he learned to deal with literary problems differently and with greater acumen. He is a great storyteller and author and this is a great collection.
