Jongpil Park du_ke — Definitely not a happy uplifting book but one that deals with reality. I admit my ignorance on quite a bit of this history and feel this book enlightened me. I found it difficult in the beginning but it picked up as I went.

Andy Mac andymacmanus — Meh. I am glad they deleted this prologue. I liked the way City of Bones began. The club scene where you are not too sure what is going on because it is a new book and all. The story did well without theat part. It wasn't long or anything. It really wasn't anything special either. That's all I have to say about it. Read it or not. Merged review: This scene was removed from Cassandra Claire's website and I had to do some snooping to find it. I found a snippit of it but what I did read was pretty good. This scene is when Jace and Clary are together in the Green House. Jace has a special birthday surprise for Clary. Cassandra has her way with words that make them come alive. I loved it! Reading Clary and Jace kiss is my favourite. Oops, did I just say that? Merged review: These first three books are from one series. They have action, love, friendship and death. It is a definite recommendation. I promise you will love them all!

Richard Tam _howtari — This book is a good introduction to Tibetan Buddhism. It is generally set up to provide specific daily practices (visualizations, thoughts and meditations). I enjoyed the chapters on the basics and practicing morality, but after that, I found that the descriptions became less coherent. That could either be a translation issue or perhaps I'm not at the understanding level yet. Either way, the most meaningful parts of the book were nearer the beginning. Portions of the book are redundant in that a practice is explained to you and then is summarized in the exact same words at the end of the chapter. I must admit that that feels a little like watching a Teletubbies show. I would have liked a slight difference in text between the two. No matter your current place on your spiritual journey, or the religion that you associate with, there are bits in this book that can lead to a more compassionate world. Advice such as helping to relieve suffering even for ants in puddles. Additionally, it is fun to occasionally see snipets into the Dalai Lama's daily life as well as information on the Tibetan understanding of the process of death. Though, I personally feel that the reason we should be kind and compassionate in this life is because it is the right thing to do, not for karma for the next life.
