Kalinka Georgieva kikakikagef219 — I absolutely loved this book!! Beginning to end it was wonderful! The characters were great and I felt for each of them in their own ways! Basically it is a good girl in college meets a bad boy and they have whirl wind romance and then he disappears then jumps 6 years and he appears in a coma and is once again in her life. Of course she has seemingly moved on so it is complicated. Throw in a deep down well meaning best friend and a little murder mystery and this just makes a really great book! It was a quick read because it was so good and kept moving forward. Truely one of my recent favorite books!!

Nguyen Hanh nguyen14 — I'm glad I read it. I can't say it will be a favorite of mine, but I do understand why it is considered a classic. Melville does a great job with descriptions especially in a world that I am highly unfamiliar with. He isn't overly poetic and yet there are moments of it thrown in. The characters a diverse, with a sense of commonality to them based on this whaling expedition and life. It is as if they are all their own people and yet will never truly be an individual in the long run.

Chavi Dutt chavi_93b720 — Need was just okay for me. I really felt like a lot of the ideas in this book were underdeveloped and just all over the place. It was so strange and odd. It was almost as though it was a reverse Twilight. Maine instead of Washington, girl hates cold, girl doesn't feel like she fits in, girl gets hurt at the end and winds up in the hospital... Instead of the girl falling for the vampire, she falls for the werewolf. EXCEPT with Twilight, I believed the connection between Edward and Bella, I felt something between those two. In Need, I didn't understand the connection between Zara and Nick, I mean how did they end up together again? I didn't even feel anything between them except friendship and the next minute they're kissing!? I did like Zara's Gram Betty and her new friends Is and Devyn, but they didn't play a huge roll in the book. Overall I thought the book was seriously up and down. One minute I felt like there was a good idea developing, then the next it was just forgotten. Also, the things Zara said were so strange... almost unrealistic. For example, her arm is broken with the bone sticking out and she's still trying to make conversation with Ian. It was very just very weird for me. I'll probably read the next book in this series just to see if the writing gets any better, but for a starter book in a series, I felt like this completely flopped.
