Amber Newland _ewland_esign — i've been trying to discern what exactly i liked about this book so much, and i haven't quite figured it out yet. i think part of it is mr. vonnegut's ability to convey life in a peculiar yet accurate way. another important part are the messages vonnegut has for the world near the end of his life without being preachy. wherever my enjoyment came from, i know for sure that i would recommend this book to anyone willing to spend the one evening required to breeze through this easy, highly enjoyable read.

Carles God carlesgod — I enjoyed the story as told by a young boy and the use of his adult self from time to time to context the historical context. This is a mystery told in the US South at a time when there were two very different worlds for the poor blacks and poor whites. The sense of mystery is well done with the outcome unclear until the final chapter or two.

If anything slightly more so as having read some more of his oeuvre in the interim; I think Watts is trying to be upbeat. If you have any interest in Sci-Fi whatsoever, this is the best the genre has to offer.
