It is the story of a New York female writer who has this huge appetite for the most ecclectic books in British literature ever written and she finds a bookseller in England who feeds that appetite. Spanning twenty years, Helene Hanff develops a fabulous corresponding relationship with Frank Doel, the head bookseller of Marks & Co antiquarian booksellers and the rest of the staff at Marks & Co. This is a must read for those of us who value our friendships whether they are near or far! As a side note, there is a lovely little film starring the late, great Anne Bancroft and Sir Anthony Hopkins. This is a short read and can be read in a couple hours. A fabulou re-read whenever you need to revisit the friendship of Hanff and Doel.

You just hang on and break through the seemingly endless and exhausting paragraphs one after another then suddenly, you're in the middle of this incredibly ornate and beautifully hand woven persian rug of murder mystery! What the hell just happend?
