Candace Carmer ccarmer — ((May contain *slight* spoilers, but not obvious plot ones)) I enjoyed this book immensely! At first i wasn't very optimistic, about this being worth the read, but after finishing all the other books i had recently bought for my Kindle i decided to give it a chance, and i am very glad i did! Summary: Opal Cowan - aka 'One Trick Wonder' - is skilled with Glass. She's living at a place known as 'The Keep' where 15-20 year olds are trained to use and understand Magic. However, Opal only has one magical ability (hence her name 'One Trick Wonder') and is shunned by the other students at the Keep, and because of this thinks of herself as an outsider. When tasked with a mission to find out why Stormdancer's Orbs are breaking and killing them, Opal faces dangers from bandits and magicians alike who all have reasons to stop her with her task and capure for their own needs. Along the way she needs a Stormdancer with a 'spark', a fellow glass maker and various other allies and enemies alike whilst gaining self confidence, learning to trust others, putting the past behind her and becoming confident in her own abilities. --- I really enjoyed this book, watching Opal grow and develop as a character -form being a obvious doormat to an independant and confident person and also her various relationships with characters. Kade & Opal were clearly meant for each other, but it was obvious Ulrick also had a place in her heart. I liked the development between Opal and her fellow classmate Pazia, watching the two of them clash and eventually learn more about one another. The storyline flowed brilliantly and the order of the events seemed realistically, nothing was rushed or thrown in without a purpose and i never found myself skipping pages or wishing something would just happen. It was fast moving and kept me hooked from beginning to end. I liked the writing style and of course, i loved the plot, though i did find some of the glass making terms and descriptions confusing, knowing nothing about glass myself but it wasn't a big factor :-) Overall, i really enjoyed the book, and i'm glad Maria V. Snyder left the ending open for a sequel :D I can't wait!

Cherry Jessie cherryjessie — An interesting history of Percy Harrison Fawcett and his adventures in the jungles of Brazil. A lot more information than I needed about the many expeditions that followed. Some parts of the book are interesting but many parts were very slow.
