Mustafa Al-dawood abjd2003e5f4 — I loved Kostova's Historian. She's a great descriptive writer, making you taste the food and the air and the places where she takes her characters. When I picked this up, I felt good about it - another mystery designed to put you in the minds of the character and challenging you to understand their motives, their history; another original piece of fiction that takes you on a winding road through the interconnected lives of different people across time. But after 100-200 pages in, I quit. There was too much unnecessary sexual innuendo. I didn't want to put that crap in my mind for another 400 pages. It wasn't worth it to me. So, like a terrible, treacherous reader, I read the spoilers to satisfy my need to know how it ended; then I peaced out.
