Dean Dalmacio _ean_almacio — Beautifully and artfully rendered, Patti Smith describes the beauty in the sometimes grim life that she shared with Robert Mappelthorpe. They both shaped the others art, and she provides examples and refers to key influences at those times, and how they proved as a system of checks and balances for each other, becoming more than critics, but family to each other in a time when neither had one nearby and were trying to make their place in a less-than-friendly New York City. Especially poignant and beautifully wrought were the Hotel Chelsea days, when they had barely each other and art supplies, but still managed to make lovely memories that lasted a lifetime. Smith's writing remains lively and light, providing accurate comparisons and metaphors that prove to be a fitting tribute to an artist who struggled for everything that he had. A lovely and engaging tale of two people who loved each other in a spiritual way that transcended the physical.

Lucila Barbarroja lubarbarro4540 — Being the end of the series, I was happy to see everything wrapped up, although, a bit too neatly. Like the others, the movement of the story was very paced and didn't really move until the latter part of the book. A good story overall, but I did wonder if the author understood some of the characters since their personality changes at the end seemed a bit contrived.

Sergio Lopez graun02 — I'm surprised that there are so many reviews dissing Overbite. The main complaint is that it's not funny enough and that it doesn't live up to the first novel, Insatiable. All right, while I'd admit that Overbite wasn't as good as its predecessor, it certainly isn't as bad as how people are describing it. Overbite is a definitely darker sequel. There's still humor, yes, but less of it. The whole cast of characters are back, with a few new ones, and an extra emphasis on Meena (naturally) and Alaric and Lucien. I wasn't surprised that there was a love triangle but I did like how it was written. Not pining-for-love, or I-will-die-without-you kind. It was more of a quiet, reserved, lets-not-say-anything, I'd-rather-die-than-say-anything kind. Not necessarily better, but it's better suited to my preferences. Meena's still the same character we know and love. She's grown-up a bit, and while she definitely has her eyes opened up due to her being exposed to the vampire world, she's still very lovable with her whines and petty troubles. Lucien's a lot darker now, and who can blame him, after what happened between Meena and him? I did find it bothersome that he, like every other vampire these days, is pining for a human girl, and is basically borderline psychotic over her. He does have his moments though, so he's not all bad. Alaric is very adorable in this as well. We get to know a bit more about him and his feelings and I just love all his reactions to a certain new character. He just acts like a total schoolboy; so young and childish. :) I suppose the ending was what got everyone riled up. Cabot does spend quite a long time building up to it, and when it finally did happen, it felt anti-climatic. That's definitely not to say it wasn't surprising, because it totally was, but for all the hype she was building up during the novel, it could have been better. There probably wouldn't be any more sequels in the Insatiable series, but I very much enjoyed it. Meg Cabot is one of a kind! XD P.S. The cover's gorgeous. I'm so glad I have Insatiable and Overbite side by side on my bookshelf.

The reason I read this book is because in the movie High Fidelity John Cusack's character says, "I have to say my all time favorite book is Johnny Cash's autobiography, Cash, by Johnny Cash." I have repeated that sentence anytime asks me what my favorite book is, but it's not really true. While Johnny Cash's autobiography, Cash, by Johnny Cash is not my favorite book, it is still an enjoyable read. It gets really churchy towards the end, though, so fair warning.
