Xiangjiang Ouyang ouyangxian98b6 — gosh is a great story teller, and he provides a unique perspective on the implications of the "Raj" by telling its story through Burma. It starts from the British invasion of Myanmar and goes through the 1990s, focusing mostly on pre-WWII and WWII. Gosh provides one of the better accounts of WWII's impact on families and communities on the Asian Front.

Cyrielle Rouppert cicicyriel090d — It was very refreshing to see a kid's chapter book dealing with the early sixties and the Cuban Missile Crises. I think this book could teach youngsters something about life during those turbulent days, while older readers might enjoy the nostalgia factor. Cool mini bios and pictures were an added bonus. I liked the main character very much. I like how despite it all, she was a normal kid dealing with normal things, like sneaking into her sister's things, tolerating an annoying younger brother who was "perfect", testing friendships, and crushing on a boy. A nice read.

Kim Luu kimthienluu — I did like this book. It was interesting, learning more about Darwin, especially his early life. Not as stuffy as he has seemed in the past to me. My only complaint is that it read like a travel log. I don't love that style of writing. If you really enjoy travel literature and history that this book was made for you.

He doesn't know who he is, or why he is in this very plain, blank room. Who are the people holding him here? His story slowly, if somewhat unreliably, unfolds. To a point that is. Who is the narrator? Reliable, or unreliable? Very Twilight Zone in aspect, Auster has spun a tale that will stay with me for a long time. I don't believe I'll ever think of the man in white in quite the same way. Recommended.
