Maria João _aria_oao_unes — I was required to read this book throughout my internship at the American Institute for Stuttering during my graduate studies. A pit preachy but a fast read...I wouldn't read it again.

Camila Oliveira millalolivbbc3 — After reading some of the reviews, i guess i'm just about the only one who didn't love this book. I picked it up because it was a southern story. Larry Ott and Silas were likeable enough but the story itself was just a o.k. story. Just a bit boring for me i guess. Slow at times. Was just waiting for something exciting to happen. Which it did in the 50 pages. Read it you might love it like everyone else but for me it was just another book. Happy Reading.

Louis Jowa _n_inge — ** spoiler alert ** Synopsis: Set in a small American town called Sloane in Kansas, a town that is about to be brought to it's knees by a devastating chain of events leading to a devastating conclusion... Back in 1998 a local typical high school, cheerleading teenager Nicole disappears...believed to have been abducted and murdered, the Police launch an investigation although no body was ever found...until now. The Police thought they'd solved their case, they believe they have the right guy, Donte Drumme a popular football player also from the same local school...based on a flawed confession, circumstantial evidence and still no body however, Donte is found guilty and sentenced to death.. Have Texas sent to death row the wrong person? Have they got it wrong? Only several days until Donte's scheduled death another person comes forward claiming responsibilty for the death of Nicole... Surely you'd think this would be enough to stop an execution? But is it? And are Texas about to let someone pay the ultimate price for their mistake, death... Review: This is the ANTI death penalty of Anti death penalty books. Its quite clear that Grisham doesn't agree with it because on the one hand this book is simply a medium through which he can rant about his stance on the death penalty. I understand it, I get it. You don't like the death penalty. Prior to reading this book I fell into the Pro-Death Penalty Camp although us Britishers don't have it over here. I always felt that it had a good way of concluding some of the hell that some people go through seeing their family members being raped, abducted and murdered....but this book has slightly changed my stance on that to be honest. No, no exaggeration, for such a low level kinda book, The Confession does indeed make you think.... But we aren't here to talk about morals and all that stuff are we. Suffice to say its changed my views and let's leave it at that! This book really was well and truly amazing. Split into three parts; 'the crime', 'the execution' and 'the exoneration.' 'The crime' provides the foundations of the story and although interesting reading, which it was! It wasn't the part that really affected me at all. Skip forward to 'the execution' and you'd catch me sitting on the end of my seat, pacing through the pages furiously trying to figure out with all the appeals launched and all the evidence that has come to light whether Texas will realise that they are sending the wrong man to Huntsville Death Chamber. Oh they realise, kinda, but still do it anyway.... The last part had me welling up into tears which is not something I would expect from a Grisham book whatsoever! So emotional and really what changed my point of view on the death penalty... This book basically was a fantastic read but if you pick it up, don't you be expecting an easy read. This is a difficult one and a very emotional one. I feel drained..... http://passionate-about-books.blogspo...
