Saebom Choi vsbv — I initially read this book for an Advanced Placement Literature course in high school. Though I throroughly enjoyed it at the time, it is over repeat readings that I find myself completely enthralled. This book is 110% worth your attention. The story unfolds through snapshot looks at the life and times of a young girl living on, you guessed it, Mango Street. The true magic of this book is in the masterful subtext. Never does Cisneros hit you over the head with her point, or anyone elses. She simply lays it out for you to judge, to translate the reality of a small child to that of the "real world." Even if you think this particular literary work is not your thing, suck it up and give it a read.
