Shohki Eno ricefield9728d — I enjoyed this story of a funny, smart woman in her 30s who is finally able to deal with a trauma that happened much earlier in her life without losing what the experience of that trauma gave her in terms of her own personality and other gifts. Sometimes I found myself just skimming the counting parts and the parts in which she talked about her long-dead hero, though, so that's why I gave this three stars instead of four or five. However, I did appreciate the specificity of those parts and how they helped the book as a whole. I absolutely loved the last chapter: it pulled everything together in a satisfying way.

Leandro Fernandes _eandro_ernandes — A great classic of American Southern writing, this is a must-read for anyone interested in American literature. This particular edition has some great appendices at the end, in particular a short excerpt from a recent biography by Valerie Boyd, whom I saw speak at a writer's convention in Tulsa.

Just Mobile _ust_obile — My FAVORITE book. Written well before Dan Brown ever considered Da Vinci or his code, Katherine Neville wrote this broad reaching story. You jump from France circa 1780 to Morocco circa 1970, never leaving behind the central themes of Chess, Charlemange, world history, and several different mysteries all to be solved by the end.
