Jingye Zhao jingyezhao43f7 — As a physician I was fascinated to learn that the first blood transfusions were attempted way back in the 1660's. However, what really made this book interesting was the contrasting reactions in England and France. Not only is this a fascinating story from the early days of science, it provides an excellent example of how things like politics and religions affect scientific inquiry. That's what makes this story relevent for 21st Century readers. Not only that, it includes a pretty good murder mystery.
