Justin Beatrice _acks_ot_ha_ack — A beautiful tale touching upon farm life, poverty, immigration . . .. This is the kind of story that lingers and slowly develops in your mind many days after you've finished reading it. When you're done, you're left with a sens of melancholy and you feel as if you've returned from a special trip where you've met these people.

Silvia Tueros-cossio silviatc — Excellent essays on the books, movies and fandom. The Snape one is so interesting, as is one on how the books are not anti-feminist, as some complain.

Rang 2c rang2c — I would give passages of this one 5 stars, but I have the same complaint I have with most of Dostoyevsky's writing -- it's uneven and scattered, much like the minds of most of his characters. The parts of this novel I found really intriguing were those about spirituality and moral ambiguity, and any part with Alyosha in it. I was less than thrilled, though, about extended interrogation scenes, the long-winded trial, and passages that seemed mostly dedicated to making a political statement about Russia. (Some people might care more about that...I just don't.) I also felt that the end was lacking. There were a lot of loose ends, but not the kind that are at all satisfying. I've read novels left unfinished by the death of the author that felt more "complete" than this, in spite of its 770 pages.

Cory Hassmann coryhassmann — She's better at short stories. The conflict at heart of this book doesn't have enough force to sustain a work of this length.

Juan Carlos jcreative — It always takes me a while to read any book, and I've only just started this one. Robin has a new series in the works now that has nothing to do with the world of Fitz Chivalry or the Liveship Traders, but I still have "The Tawny Man" series to read, and the "Liveship Traders" comes first, so I've finally started. I'll let you know what I think once I'm done, but I'm certain I'll love it.
