Renee Nault _enee_ault — I received this book for free through Goodread's giveaways. The best thing about this book is the characters. Almost immediately, I fell in love with Maeve, who is everything I look for in a heroine. She's tough, passionate, and morally secure, but still has enough flaws to be human. Rob is my other favorite. I was disappointed that we only get one chapter from his POV, because his storytelling is hilarious. Not that Maeve's isn't witty and entertaining in her own way, but it's nice to get a change of pace now and then. My only complaint is that the story is very slow for the first 2/3 of the book. Instead of focusing on the serial killer, Meave is given the task of digging up information about the latest victim, Rebecca, (whose last name escapes me, sorry), who may not even have been killed by the same murderer as the last four victims of the "Burning Man." We get very detailed accounts of Meave interviewing Rebecca's friends, family, and coworkers. It takes a long time. Fortunately, the few times that I was feeling bored enough to put the book down, it got exciting again. The last third of the story is superb. Even though the ending wasn't all that surprising, it had enough twists to keep me entertained.
