Why not say it was one live birth thereby eliminating the need for all the subsequent coverup. Then only the fathered would be tortured rather than both of them. I also can't see how that mother would ever have been able to handle a child with disabilities. Yes, she was strong enough to run a successful business but she seemed to have a very fragile psyche. Would it have survived special needs? I was amazed that it kept me engaged and reading straight through as I was really disappointed when I was done. Unusual combo.
