Dmitry Timoshchuk _imo — There is such honesty in the way Maddie describes her feelings as a bystander of unkindness. I appreciate the author's way of gently contrasting Maddie's resolve to do something different with a dismissive approach by Maddie's best friend, Peggy.

Well, for starters, he pretends to be a Zen master who thrives on Indian-style meditation, a multiple of bizarre Zen techniques and spiritual ramblings. With his Zen master image, he quickly wins first the curiosity and then the love of the girl of his dreams and the admiration/jealousy of his classmates. But how long can he keep his Zen lies going before the non-Zen truth is revealed? And just how much will his lies cost him? In the end, here is one question readers might ask: "Is it easier to act like someone we're not or to just to be who we really are?" As many students know, the answer isn't as obvious as it may seem. Personally, I thought "Zen and the Art of Faking It" was a good story but "Drums Girls and Dangerous Pie" was a GREAT STORY! In fact, it is exactly because Drums Girls and Dangerous Pie was SO good that I wasn't as impressed as I read through Zen and the Art of Faking It. Still, author Jordan Sonnenblick is a promising writer for today's student readers: quick-witted, fast-paced and full of laughs. While he can come across as a bit corny at times, he does seem to understand many of the challenges middle school students face in their daily lives. He is also able to take many of those not-so-fun problems (dealing with school work, teachers, parents, divorce, crushes, etc.) and turn them into fun-to-read stories.

Haena Yoo yoohaena — While I enjoyed this book, I also found it disturbing somehow. It was almost too much being privy to every thought and motivation of the characters. I did feel the writing style was pretty unique and I kind of enjoyed the jumps back and forth in time for each character. It was a pretty quick read but definitely not "light" reading.

Kenneth Spillane kenny_3media — Usually I despise any type of modern prequel or sequel to a piece of classic literature (For God's sake people, leave Mr. Darcy alone!), but this book was absolutely amazing. The characters were well-developed, the story line face paced and intriguing, and the way the authors explained everything about Neverland was really neat. I actually liked this version of the Peter Pan character better, as I always found the original (even as a child) to be too much of an immature, self-centered jerk. Already have the two sequels checked out from the library and can't wait to read them!

Cheng Zhen _ — This book was good. A little sad, and I didn't like the ending much. But all in all it was good.

Tina Mailhot-roberge vervex — I chose this book because my mother and I both collect postcards. The stories were interesting and the premise imaginative. Interesting turn-of-the-century slice of life in each story.
