Marina Rakhimova makotokonno — I love a good epic novel, the more twisted and tragic the better. Middlesex is more humorous than it is tragic, but it kept me entertained and absorbed for many, many train rides. Once, while reading Middlesex, I almost missed my stop. True story.

Ricardo Cardozo _omokishi — Mesmerising tale of the east end of London in the mid 20th century. Some heart-warming stories, many infuriating. You can learn from it the universality of the human condition across time and place; or the extraordinary changes that have taken place in the course of a single lifetime. Poverty and living conditions that are inconceivable in Europe or America today, that was then entirely unremarkable. It does repudiate the notion that true progress is impossible. Then there is the man who returned from the Spanish Civil War with an unidentified prepubescent peasant bride. Today, we'd (rightly) lock him up for child molestation and human trafficking. Then, the author attended the birth of their 24th child, and observed the "pervert" as an exceptionally warm and accommodating paterfamilias.

Roland Bischofberger _oland_ischofberger — It was really quite an original idea for a novella. As always, I loved John Green's writing style. The zombies in this story are actually cannibalistic corn evangelists, which made them somewhat comical. I am really glad John decided to put this on the internet for us even though he doesn't think very highly of it. The cover is misleading; it has every thing to do with corn and nothing to do with unicorns.
