Jorge Jiménez jorgeaji — Absolutely Fabulous! This book is just amazing. The history of the world compacted into one book might appear, at first, to trivialize many things. That might be a turn off- who wants to be enchanted by false truths or annoying generalizations and stereotypes? But, this book takes a look at the bigger picture of the world as it progresses from the Fertile Crescent to what we have today... how some societies becamse so strong as to overtake others, while the others seemed to have remained in the stone age. Such fascinating stuff, I think this book at least gives a foundation for understanding human survival, the development of states and organization, and why societies are the way they are now. I love things with a deep cultural perspective, and I think this book is excellent at driving through stereotypes and with providing bits of knowledge that make me think. The bibliography is ridiculously extensive, the research for this book must have taken a lifetime. I truly enjoyed this book. And I think anyone with an interest in human societies, and even the world today would agree that this book is amazing.
