Felicia Jones _jones — Bellevue Hospital. The epitome of psychiatric care for mental disorders. This book grabbed my attention, since working at the library, I get lots of exposure to a variety of mental illness. I figured since Holland ran the psychiatric ER for 9 years, she would have some good stories. She had some, but not as many as my co-workers! She dealt a lot with the technical aspects of her job, the bureaucracy and the routines. She spent too much time describing the pains of scheduling, and recounting her personal therapy sessions. An interesting sidenote, Holland was friends with Spalding Gray, whose work I love, and whose own troubles with mental illness contributed to his suicide. So, while this book wasn't quite what I was expecting, I do respect Holland's opinions on how mental health is treated in the U.S. compared to other parts of the world, where integration is more normalized, rather than shipping those affected to specialized institutions.

Darek Gunia darekguniaf94c — The first time I attempted to read this book, I only made it about half way through. It just didn't excite me. I made another attempt a few years later and got it read. It's a good story sprinkled with elements of fantasy.
