Chris Prime primey4 — I loved this format. This theory is told through a narrative that the reader will find very familiar. I have the audio book too and they did a great job with the production. The CTO dude had an english accent and that made his charater even richer for the story. I would recommend reading this with "Wisdom of Crowds". I'm very interested in these complex group dynamics.

Angel Whisenant _ngel_hisenant — I really wanted to like this more, but it rubbed me the wrong way, I assume because I'm becoming one of those humorless librarians that Nancy Pearl talks about. Marketing pushes this book in the Harry Potter direction with the bespectacled "magical" kid on the cover, but the prose is more in the Lemony Snicket metatextual tradition - rather annoyingly so in some cases. Too much of the book is taken up with the author's asides, there's just not enough actual story, and it isn't done as gracefully as in the Series of Unfortunate Events books. I was also disappointed with the book's weird hatred of librarians - even if it is obviously tongue-in-cheek, there is a disdain for the profession and for literature that leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Librarians never withhold or otherwise censor information, and, as with Summer Reading is Killing Me, I really don't like denigrating any book in the name of "reading". I do agree with the author in the case of the Newbery awards. So much death.

Nicholas Guthrie nickguthrie — I read this often as a child. I enjoyed sharing it with my children.

Julia Jasm juliajasm — I'd actually give this one 3.5 stars. It was a nice change to read a book written by a male author and from a male's perspective. Personally, I would have liked to see an epilogue. I mean, what happened to everyone's parents? Aunt Mollie - definitely a million times better book than your last few picks!
