Kelly Barto _elly_arto — My girlfriend's daughter Datie dubbed this book, "Nuns of Doom." I must add that I got this for free at a yard sale, and I wished to read it because I was taught by the Benedictines and the Dominicans back in grade/high school in Montana. Some of those women were cruel, most were good teachers, all seemed to have some aura about them, and in retrospect they also were struggling with some existential issue or other. Well, this book gives somewhat of an insight. As a recovering Catholic, my impression is that they are deluding themselves if they want a closer relationship with God, but they do seem to value the camaraderie and shared spirituality (whatever that is) despite the wide variances among the orders/lay groups. Glad I read it, took me FOREVER, don't plan to encourage my granddaughter to join.

Gisela Contrera _y_ontrera — The only thing I can say is, if you dig Karl, you'll dig this book. I could totally hear in my head him speaking the words on the page. I don't have the television channel to watch "An Idiot Abroad." This book gave me a quick, satisfying dose of the Pilk.

Ryan Bittle ryanbittle — I re-read this book every fall, at the start of the academic year. Partly it's a ritual but partly because it's the best academic comedy I've ever read. It may not be the best book on my list, but if I could only take one book with me to a desert island and that would be the only book I could read for the rest of my life, this would be it.
