Heidi Anne heidiannemorris — Although it was "interesting" to learn about about how supreme court judges run for office, I found this book too laden with details that didn't matter much to the plot. I have read EVERY single one of John Grisham's books, and have been loyal to him over the years, but I'm beginning to agree with others who say he is losing his touch on spinning a tale for intrigue and suspense.

Victoria Elizabeth bopbopbop — I really didn't want to give the last part of the Millennium Trilogy fewer than five stars, but it's only fair. I still love Salander and Blomkvist dearly, but I had a problem with this part actually starting around page 400, basically. For someone who has not read the first two books all the recapitulations and repetitions may be useful, but for those who have, all the summaries make things a bit tedious. Another downside, quite unique for this last book, was that everything was known, so to speak. Apart from the "Poison Pen" episode, and perhaps the chase for Niedermann, there was no real "mystery," only a bit of suspense, if I can put it that way. And, after all, this is the thickest of the three volumes, so the absence of "that thing" you just can't wait to figure out, the "page-turner" proper, is all the more strongly felt. And since I'm being brutally honest, I didn't quite get the whole "scandalousness" of the Zalachenko situation, I felt as if it is being blown considerably out of proportion to make the incident more consequential and shocking that it actually was (or needed to be). The way whole groups of people acted and events developed around the core story seemed, sorry to say, but a bit over-the-top for me. And I refuse to quite accept the possibility that part of my incredulity could be that I have been somehow anesthetized to such "outrages" by having grown up with crime and corruption on massive scales. On the good side of it, Salander is just as kick-ass and lovable, something to make things a bit righter in this volume.
