Eric Buchanan ericcbuchanan — This book just comes and blows my mind. Taoism (Daoism) is an interesting practice to study, and I find myself taking upon its influence. Great Book, Alan Watts is now one of my favorite author.

_hromzone
Chuck Berk _hromzone — 3.5 stars First off, I love the title on the cover. The whole cover is pretty, but the title? Nice. So, Vanish is the second book in this Firelight series. I've been waiting to read this for quite awhile because the last book left us hanging, of course. It seems like they all do. And, after reading this book I'm right back to the same place. Waiting, wondering, knowing how long it will be before I get to read the next book. –sigh-> A struggle between what a character thinks is best and what a character wants is a common theme in any book. Especially when it comes to love. Jacinda's struggle is no different. The love she feels for Will, her family, and her draki family keeps her torn. It is a struggle most can relate to on some level because we've all been there before in some form or another. I like the draki element in these books. I actually think I might like to be one! Come on, flying? Special powers? Strength? Yup, sign me up! The problem with writing a review for this book is that it's almost impossible to say anything more than the summary without giving everything away. I don't want to do that. I will say that I don't like these love triangles. It makes me feel bad when there are two hot and incredible guys after one girl. Why does it always have to be that way? Love triangles. Bleh. I did really enjoy Vanish. It was a good, fast read that kept my interest from beginning to end. I'll be anxiously awaiting the next book. I just know it's going to be good! There was some frequent mild swearing and a couple instances of profanity.

lopnana
ñaña Lóp lopnana — I have always thought Ireland would make an ideal setting for a paranormal story and I found this in Haunting Desire. It's part of a series but I read this book alone with no problem, although in the end I was ready to read the other books. I liked the world, the characters and how everything came together. Shealy O'Leary has no idea how powerful she is when she and her father are accidentally transported to the mythical Fennore. Separated from her father, she meets Tiarnan a warrior who has assembled a small motley crew. He has been trying to escape Fennore and when he meets Shealy he sees hope but remains cautious. There, Shealy will have to face her past and come to terms with it. There are secrets that will shake her world, and powers that will strengthen her. There is danger, magic and love. A touch of Irish accent which I appreciated. It's set in Ireland and at the same time it's set in its own world. The only remnants of Ireland are the Irish characters, the magic and the wide, open and isolate land. It didn't take a lot for the characters to endear themselves to me and not the just the main ones either. I quickly fell for Liam and little Ellie. Everyone from the main ones to the secondary ones played an important role, driving the plot. Shealy is a sassy and strong character and Tiarnan is a brave and unrelenting one. She has a resilient spirit that is well matched with Tiarnan's stubbornness. In fact they are both survivors and fighters in their own way, which appealed to me. Their personal demons, Shealy with her scars and family tragedy and Tiarnan with his guilt and anger gave insight into who they are and armed them with traits to face down obstacles. Both being so strong only made the tender moments that much more meaningful. When Shealy and Tiarnan connected emotionally, it made them invincible and gave them a reason to find a way out of Fennore. It's an irresistible story with a world that I want to re-visit.
