Mujo Rexhepi mujorexhepi — One of the best books in the Rick Brant series from the mid-20th century. In this one Rick and his pal Scotty head out to the Sulu Sea area south of the Philippines in an attempt to search and rescue two of the scientists from the Spindrift Laboratories who went out there on an expedition and have disappeared. Lots of action and adventure with the modern day Moro pirates who terrorize the Sulu Sea all culminating in a thrilling oh-so-dangerous rescue attempt that gets you turning pages faster than all get-out. Check my review for the Wallace Boys book THE SULTAN OF THE SULU SEA by Duncan Watts. These two books are very similar and it's great to be able to read them back to back.

I Cremers icremers — 3.5 stars I listened to this as I spent the day cleaning, and it made the day go by so pleasantly! :) Listening to it was really enjoyable. Yet it certainly is lacking in the attention to detail that would make this a truly full-bodied story. It does end up feeling like listening to 9 hours of gossip about a handful of characters, some of which I didn't like at all. But I did like two of them, and so was quite content listening to their stories. The series seems well-suited to the audiobook format, and I look forward to many days filled with the simultaneous satisfaction of a productive day of cleaning and of immersion in a book. Update: 4 stars I started the second on in the series, in print, and in doing so, realized that part of the seeming lack of detail I thought I noticed in the first may have been due to my not paying perfect attention to the narrator at all times. I like her style more when I read it on the page! (But they're still great audiobooks.) :)
