Jack Boyle bx_elb — SUCH a pleasure to read. A little risque at times, but overall wonderful!! ALSO, did anyone notice that the Tapestry is the same that hangs in the Griffyndor Commons room at Hogwarts?

Gladys Mujica _la_this — Read on the beach in Costa Rica! A good old fashioned historical fiction. Heavy on the fiction- light on the history.

Hannah Cardy hannah08b7 — Spanning Sarah Churchill's life, it follows her rise and close friendship with (eventual) queen Anne of England. Sarah is a fascinating and relatable character (although I did sometimes wonder how much of her emotional life was true). She's involved in politics, passionately in love with her husband (throughout the 30 years they spent together! Unfortunately, their moments are some of the least believable in the book), and emotional support and sometime lover to the queen (I really appreciated how this wasn't sensationalized). And my god, a lot of children die. It's a fascinating reminder of how ambitious people have always worked hard to get what they want. I loved that Holloway Scott goes into the politics and issues of the time so thoroughly; they've never seemed so interesting to me (and I actually felt like I kind of understood them). But then, I've always been better at history as narratives than history as dates and facts. Behind me I heard my sister gasp. "Oh, Sarah, please don't!" "Please what, Frances?" I asked, without looking, for I knew better than to turn my back on her husband. "What? Would you rather have me betray the princess and my own faith than tell your husband how little use I have for his low, conniving tricks?" "Don't concern yourself, Frances," Lord Tyrconnel said. "She's doubtless only parroting the falsehoods she's heard from Churchill himself." "Why should my husband conconct any such lies, when the entire court knows the truth of your cowardice in battle?" I said. "Colonel Lord Churchill would never sully his honor by repeating the sordid tales that cling to your coattails." According to the last page, she's written more than thirty historical novels, and even though that's a large number, it's not surprising because it's very easy for me to see why.

Christopher Gimmer cgimmer — Again brilliant ! Await the next book

Iván Gomez _van_omez1 — Book #33 of 2009 The first in the "Daughters of the Glen" series. I really liked this book! There seemed to be a pretty good plot and not a reliance on just physical attraction as the main plot drivers in the story. I very much approved of the ending, but I won't give away what exactly I approved of (and no, it wasn't that the characters stayed together, that was obviously going to happen). I even picked up on a plot twist fairly early on, not that I knew what the twist was exactly, just that there was going to be one. Which I guess might be annoying to some, but it wasn't that bad... Am I making any sense over here? Probably not so I'll stop now... This was a good book to curl up with while I've been sick the last few days too. Also, I like the idea of the monthly challenge over at Romance Readers Reading Challenges so this can count as fulfilling item #9 on the list, Read a book that is part of a series. Borrowed from the Library.
